If you have an iPhone you've at least heard of Instagram. It's an iPhone app that allows you to take photos, apply filters and share with your friends. That simple.
While there are countless other photo apps available, Instagram has stuck with me because of its simplicity and fun process. Sure the vintage filters can be overused and a bit cliche at times, but there's something nice about its constraints and how easy it is to enhance and share photos.
When I have a camera in my hand I tend to looks at the world differently. I'm more aware of lighting, unique angles, and little details that would otherwise go unnoticed. Having an iPhone in my pocket at all times has caused me to constantly be in this same mindset and always on the lookout. Rather than just store the photos on my phone, Instagram acts as my visual journal. Scanning through my feed of photos is a neat way to look back at past events and moments that would have otherwise been forgotten.
It's easy to say "I don't live anywhere cool, so there's not much to take photos of" but that just means you have to look a little harder. There's so much beauty in ordinary things and places to be found. Here are a few of my favorite shots from my Instagram feed.
