A few years ago I stumbled across a site called The Burning House started by Foster Huntington (who also writes the awesome blog A Restless Transplant). The site is based around this premise: "If your house was burning, what would you take with you? It's a conflict between what's practical, valuable and sentimental. What you would take reflects your interests, background and priorities."
It's not fun to think about your house burning down, but it is an interesting exercise to think about was items you treasure most and how those might change over time. This is my submission from a few years ago that actually got featured in the printed book.
