Ugmonk Video Shoot - Behind the Scenes

Ugmonk Video Shoot - Behind the Scenes

We recently launched the new Ugmonk video and wanted to share some of the behind-the-scenes of what went into making it all happen. For quite some time I've wanted to produce a video to encapsulate my story and the ethos behind Ugmonk. Rather than try to tell the whole chronological history of the brand, my goal was to focus on design and brand philosophy behind what I do. Sounds simple, right? Well there's a lot more that goes into a making it happen than meets the eye.

With so many talented filmmakers out there, it was tough to choose who to work with. After seeing Eli Odegaard's exceptional work and chatting with him, we really connected on my vision and I knew he was going to nail the shoot. He also brought along Wes Coughlin to assist with the shoot (or maybe just to eat Philly cheesesteaks). These guys made a killer team.

We started with storyboarding, location planning, brainstorming, and figuring out how best to tell the Ugmonk story. I had a list of key themes that I wanted to communicate and Eli helped tie everything together and come up with visuals that would complement the different talking points. Once Eli and Wes flew out here to PA, we shot for the better part of 3 days at the various locations and experimented with all sort of angles and ideas. It was an exhausting 3 days and I left having an even greater respect for just how much work goes into a 5 minute video. Hats off to all you videographers out there.

After the shoot, Eli then sifted through the hours of footage and edited everything together. Over the course of the last few weeks we worked through a bunch of edits to refine the story, music, coloring and footage sequences to arrive at the finished video that you see below. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out and hope you guys enjoy it too.
